#704 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
June, 2023 Murky vision. Sometimes my life can become cloudy and unclear and I question whether I am really following God. I start looking inward. Looking inward is a positive and beneficial exercise. I need to remember when I am looking inward I am also looking for the Holy Spirit. I’m not on this journey alone, and I’m not responsible for the healing–He is. All of a sudden my vision becomes clear.

It’s non-Golf Tuesday…
#705 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
August, 2023 Once again I have been restrained from the golf course, this time by a torn bicep muscle. Like the psalmist, I cry out to God: Why? Golf is a spiritual exercise! God replies: So is waiting. So is healing.

#706 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July, 2023 Obedience. Man, I used to hate that word. The gospel of Christ with the Ten Commandments attached…I knew there would be times when I was going to do what I wanted…that would lead to further separation…I damn well better clean up my act.
That is the gospel of fear. He is so much better than that. His is the gospel of faith. He says (Malmgren paraphrase): “I am the light…I can show you the best way home…listen to Me…try to do what I want you to do…trust Me.”

May, 2023 Forgiveness means change of (our) heart–it makes all the difference. Forgiveness can be a way of being. That’s why the Avett Brothers sing “I have no enemies..” at the end of “No Hard Feelings.” Everyone can be completely forgiven. Sounds nice: “…living in a state of forgiveness…”

Written in January, especially true today…
#708 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
January 2023 Several of my old men friends are facing serious health issues, and we are all getting older. Had I the boldness, this is what I would like to say to them: We are in the late stage of our lives. It carries a great blessing and a deep sadness. We must savor life but we can’t hide from death. We are all approaching that door, either sooner or not-so-later. I have a deep conviction that what lies beyond that door is more wonderful than we can imagine. So fill your heart with gladness. Be strong. The #1 priority at this stage of our lives is to demonstrate the love we feel for those people we are closest to. Have faith in God for the big picture.

#709 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July, 2023 Probably the most interesting and beneficial question I can ask a fellow believer: How do you experience the Lord?

It’s Family Sunday!
#710 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 1, 2021 (every once in a while I go back through my journal to see if I missed something..) Talked with my son in Port Townsend today. Things are going well for him and his family. All my family seems to be doing pretty well–what a blessing! The Old Testament is rife with stories of dysfunctional families–David and Absalom, Joseph and his brothers, Jacob and Esau, Cain and Abel. Peace in the family is to be treasured. (Also posted because I love this photo!)
