#568 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
MAY, 2023. “For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3). This is the Bible’s answer to my ego. Hallelujah!

#569 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April, 2023. Comarodoratie. That is what my friend calls it. Four old men with a common goal–play well and win. We’re a team–encouraging each other–helping each other–laughing with each other. We get a whiff of that boyishness that we will never know again. There is joy. This too is a gift from God.

#570 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
January, 2023. When I feel spiritually shaky, I aim to do the following: take a few breaths, remind myself that He is present whatever I think or feel, remember that I am loved and accepted no matter what, and try to follow Him–He knows the way.

#571 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April, 2023 “Thank you.” Those are beautiful words to hear. They generally mean I have done something nice for people and they appreciate it…gives me a warm feeling inside. It was an absolutely wonderful day for ice cream today. Thank You, Lord.

#572 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
March, 2023. Yesterday evening I was listening to someone complain about other people. Yesterday morning I read this: “If you see that some aspect of your society is bad, and you want to improve it, there is only one way to do so: you have to improve people. And in order to improve people, you begin with only one thing: you can become better yourself.” –Leo Tolstoy

#573 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April, 2023 When anger is involved, people seem to misunderstand what forgiveness means. “I’ll forgive her when she apologizes–and really means it” or “I’ll forgive him, but I will never forget.” Don’t both of those responses reveal where the heart is? I can’t pull forgiveness out of a hat like a rabbit. Forgiveness operates on a cycle. “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Jesus’s answer to how many times we should forgive someone who wrongs us: “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Matthew 18:22) Nothing softens the heart (forgiver and forgivee) like forgiveness.

Family Sunday–the easiest time to hear God speak…
#574 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
March, 2023 (Day 4 of Texas Malmgren family reunion) Patriarch. It’s kind of a bad word these days, understandably given the awful and unfair results of male domination of human history. But it has its bright side: I am patriarch of the 14 gathered here in Squamish, and I am treated with love and respect and only hints of disdain (mostly from the granddaughters). I thank my Lord and my God for the honor of holding that position, and I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me in executing my responsibilities in a way that pleases God and nurtures my loved ones.
