#1531 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 24, 2025 Another gem from Anthony de Mello: The human condition is perfectly depicted in the case of the poor drunk standing late at night outside the park, beating on the fence, and yelling “Let me out!”
Trapped in a cage of our own construction…

Golf Tuesday, an anecdote…
#1532 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
June 18, 2025 Five minutes after I almost got hit by a golf ball (so close!), a young man hit his ball by the fence in front of me. I learned he’d been at a Christian conference the past two days, and he and his friend decided to play a round of golf on their way home–their own Father’s day gift to themselves. His kids were 7 and 5 and 2. I told him of my six granddaughters, no grandsons. “That’s your fault, man, that’s your fault,” he said with a laugh. He was astounded that I had been married for 48 years. “How do you do it?” he said. “My wife, she’s…” He didn’t finish. “You just gotta love her,” I told him. “No matter what you gotta love her.” He brightened. “That’s right,” he said. “That’s what I been learning. Thank you, my brother.” It was a holy moment, for him and for me.

August 27, 2025 “If I get married, I want to be very married.” –Audrey Hepburn. Today is our 48th wedding anniversary. Thank you, Karen my peach, for being very married with me all this time. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing and keeping us together.

Yes, I sometimes talk to myself…
#1534 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
August 19, 2025 This from my quiet time: “The spiritual quest in us is what always demands more than life has to offer. The person whose life is bound up in the spiritual quest never knows failure and never expects success, never knows success and never gives in to failure. It is finding God in what we do that is the measure of our success, it is walking with God wherever we go that makes failure impossible.” –Sr. Joan Chittister
Do you see how little ego is involved in this, Dallin?

Come in and dine, Lord Jesus…
#1535 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
August 12, 2025 I had a revelation as I was praying on my back porch last evening: the first and most important thing God wants me to do in light of my new circumstances (injured shoulder, no golf) is to open wider the doorway to my heart. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelations 3:20). I have trials ahead of me–I certainly don’t want to face them on my own.

#1536 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
May 12, 2025 I want to be an observer of spiritual reality. That is a special gift–for me it will take a lifetime to develop it. I don’t mean dark arts or heavenly realms. Spiritual reality has only one origin– the Light always shining from above. I want to recognize God at work.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father (on Family Sunday)…
#1537 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 25, 2025 I love it when my heart is flooded with the love of God. We are visiting my daughter in the house they just bought in Ann Arbor. It’s a modest house, but it seems just perfect for her and Dylan and Edith and Agnes. Nathan and Annalisa and Ayla are also visiting from Port Townsend, and they too seem to be doing quite well. It struck me as I went for a walk–God hears all those prayers that Karen and I continually send up for the well-being of our children.
