#1676 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
January 13, 2026 My wife smiles at me when I tell her that crawling into bed is one of my favorite times of the entire day, especially in winter. I love how the feeling of warmth and peace and security envelops me. I review the events of the day and thank Him for it. And then I drift off… Ah, rest!
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for Thou alone, O Lord, dost make me to dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)

January 10, 2026 “Apart from me you can do nothing.” –Jesus Christ
That is the bottom line of my Christianity. All of the New Year’s resolutions and self-help books and personal coaches and new age philosophies are like seeds scattered on the rocks in His parable. The seed that lands in the good soil is the heart that relies on the Holy Spirit.

November 7, 2025 Father Richard Rohr’s description of enlightened Christians: “These people are anchored by their awareness of God’s love deep within them and deep within everyone else too. They happily live on a level playing field, where God has come to pitch His tent among everyone. All games of classism, racism, sexism and nationalism are henceforth seen to be a waste of valuable time and energy that could be used for positive good.”

#1679 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 26, 2025 When I don’t feel like doing something (i.e., my physical therapy exercises), it’s twice as hard to get myself to do it when I have other options, even if they’re not significant. However, I know that I will not get my active life back without enduring the pain that goes with rehab. God is good–He’ll give me little dead times in between various activities. And He will remind me I’m supposed to do them. Mostly I listen.

#1680 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
January 17, 2026 Divisions caused by race or ethnicity or religion are illogical. Humans are like snowflakes–no two of us are alike. If I use any standard–your color or your beliefs or your taste in music–to deem you different (lesser?) than me, I have created an artificial barrier. Our differences are there to enjoy and explore, not to divide. There’s only one characteristic we all share–we have the same Maker.

Family Sunday, the nest refill…
#1681 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 29, 2025 The only family member I might have less contact with during a family reunion is my wife. My focus is more on the adults and what activities we have planned and hers on the granddaughters and what they are doing. But what always unites us is how happy we are to have all of them around. I find it’s not the events but the moments that make a family reunion.
