I always feel like Somebody’s watching me (non-Halloween version)
#1661 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 22, 2025 I had the Watchman procedure, which involves an implant in the heart that eliminates the need for taking blood thinners, done today. Of course, any operation on the heart brings with it an awareness of one’s mortality. Realizing God’s presence in the waiting room, in pre-op, in the operating room, and in post-op is what got me through. My dominant thought as they placed the mask on me and I drifted into unconsciousness was Okay, Lord, You got this. And there He was when I woke up. I don’t know how people do these things without Him.

Why I write…
#1662 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 11, 2025 I’m no expert on anything–I only write about the way I perceive things. I believe that each of us has a direct channel to God, and He longs for us to keep that channel open. That is our highest calling as created beings. The channel is two way–He wants to commune with us as we commune with Him. Our task is to listen. My friend calls it “attentive hearkening.” That’s what I want to write about.

#1663 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 20, 2025 Many people attend church but are not involved in the body of Christ. Many people are also depressed and lonely. I have a prescription. Find a church involved in outreach–ministering to people less fortunate than them–and volunteer. I’m not talking about Bible studies or prayer groups (not that there’s anything wrong with that). My church has a group called Feed the Five Thousand. We prepare meals on Wednesday afternoon and deliver them to poor people in our community. Two things I can guarantee about the people involved in such enterprises: they will be good-hearted and they will be friendly.

#1664 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY

November 9, 2025 Christians who place more importance on posting the Ten Commandments in classrooms than in ministering to immigrants, the poor, the homeless, the mentally ill, the disenfranchised–they drive me crazy. They must have torn the New Testaments out of their Bibles.

July 11, 2025 Willie, again…
“Life’s been good I guess
My ragged old heart’s been blessed
With so much more than meets the eye
I’ve got a past that I won’t soon forget
And you ain’t seen nothing yet
I’m still learning how to fly.”

March 8, 2025 “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 38–39)
How’s that for security?

#1667 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 30, 2025 My daughter and I got stopped by a cop today. She was doing 47 in a 35. She felt horrible because it was my car and we were going to gather her family to go to the airport. The officer got my insurance and came back to our car a few minutes later. He handed her a slip of paper and said, “I’m giving you a warning this time…” The first words out of Bethany’s mouth were “Thank You Lord!” It warmed my heart.
