August 8, 2026 Sorry a day late:
1) Parents will go to great lengths to please a child. That is love.
2) Gifts, to honoree and attendees, have become more extravagant.
3) No one lives in the moment as much as 10 y.,o. girls at a birthday party.
4) Food is secondary, but exercise builds appetites.
5) Ten y.o. girls are uncontrollable, up to a proper limit.
6) Dessert is never secondary.
7) Ten year olds love a challenge.
😎 Grandfather is almost invisible (and he likes it that way).
9) The level of happiness is overwhelming.
10) God is smiling down from above.

July 27, 2026 golf widow — (n.) — an informal term for the spouse of an avid golfer who spends so much time on the course that she feels neglected.
Most retiree wives that I know seem relieved that their husbands have a hobby that takes time, provides some exercise, and keeps them out of their hair. We are happy to oblige. Admittedly, we can take it too far. When we do, golf is no longer a spiritual exercise.

June 17, 2026 My doctor sent me the following message: “You have significant blood in your urine–we’ll test you again in two weeks.” Whoa. The last time I heard something like that was from my dear friend Dave after he came out of the restroom at the golf course — he died of bladder cancer less than a year later. Visions of mortality. Karen and I looked it up and it could be many different things — most of them minor. Still hard not to imagine many scenarios…
I go by one faithfact: (-n.-) articles of faith that are held to be absolutely true by the individual. I trust God’s plan for my life and I intend to follow it. It sure makes it easier to accept what I cannot control.
Afterword: I learned this week that blood was probably caused by small kidney stones. No tumors or other signs of cancer. Thanks, Lord

Wonderful preacher, wise man. Our attention is not to be focused on combating sin. Our attention is to be focused on following Him. He’ll take care of the sin. He already did.
