October 11, 2025 I took this photo on the night of the full moon. That is the moon herself shining through the leaves of my beloved live oak tree. If I rorschach it, I get two butterflies greeting one another. “The heavens proclaim the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” (Psalm 19:11)

October 21, 2025 savor — (v.) — to enjoy or appreciate something to the fullest, especially by taking your time with it, or to taste or smell something with pleasure. I believe with all my heart that God wants us to savor life. That is one of my daily goals.

October 10, 2025 sedentary — (adj.) — tending to spend much time seated; somewhat inactive. My rotator cuff surgery has required that I become more sedentary–or at least made it more difficult not to be. I can easily see this is not a good plan for the long term. However, I can perceive benefits in the short term…to wit, I am being invited into a more contemplative mindframe. It is easier to practice the presence of God with less distractions. I understand monks and monasteries. Of course, contemplation’s evil twin is self-absorption. Better beware. (photo of me & Spice)

October 15, 2025 This was shared by a friend/mentor:
“When your New Creation voice joins in the eternal song of the redeemed, you will find that you already know the tune, because you have been humming it for years.” –Justin Rossow
Humming shall turn to singing and singing shall turn to dancing and dancing shall turn to joy.

October 13, 2025 One of the biggest mistakes I can make is to try to evaluate someone else’s Christian walk, whether it is someone I am very close to or someone I barely know. The only weakness and transgression and sin God wants me to shine a spotlight on is my own.

April 4, 2025 (the day before my birthday)– “He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake..” (Psalm 23) That is the beauty of having Him as my companion. He knows my day before I even start it. If I make paying attention a priority and try to respond to every situation as He would want me to, I’m pretty sure my paths will turn righteous and He will lead.

#1597 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 31, 2025 Happy Halloween! Somehow we moved into the greatest Halloween neighborhood since 1960. No church parking lots or trunk-or-treat here. From 5:45 to 8 (when I turn out the porch light) there was a stream of kids, some accompanied, some not. I soloed this year (Karen is in Port Townsend). When I held out the bucket and said “Take three”, eyes lit up. Some were grabbers, but others were inspectors, carefully examining what I had to offer. I definitely would have been an inspector. Thanks for the memories, Lord (photo: greatest house–not mine–in greatest neighborhood).
