#1641 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
June 13, 2026 God says yes way more than He says no. The Old Testament was about the noes — all those Thou shat not’s. I don’t have to tell you that we failed miserably at them. The New Testament is a resounding yes — to forgiveness; to seek, knock and ask; to mercy and grace; to eternal life. So why are we hanging the Ten Commandments up in the classroom? Isn’t that giving impressionable minds the wrong impression?

Be it ever so humble…
#1642 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 6, 2026 Drove the last load of loved ones to the airport this morning. Partings are always hurried and jumbled and bittersweet. So thankful for what just took place but totally aware it is back to the real world. Two saving graces: Karen and I go home tomorrow. One of my favorite parts of any trip (even family reunions!) is when I walk back into my own house. I love to come home. The other grace is even more simple: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

May 22, 2926 spiritualize — (v.) — to make everything spiritual. Fr. Richard Rohr , one of my favorite mentors, wrote a book called Everything Is Spiritual, his major point being the Spirit never leaves the scene, we do. So I am trying to spiritualize my life — make every transfer of energy positive. This might mean: a friendly greeting to the dog walker across the street; expressing appreciation for my wife (to God and her); being calm and patient when dealing with a credit card scam (hard one!); accepting the “two impostors” (victory and defeat) just the same; looking for opportunities to be helpful; reaching out to someone; doing something now instead of putting it off; listening for God; going to bed blessed.
That’s a personal encapsulation, but it can work for anyone: spiritualize!

June 22, 2026 “We don’t believe something by merely saying we believe it… We believe something when we act as if it were true.” –Dallas Willard
I don’t believe we reach many people by telling them about Jesus in a world saturated with the message. The only way we can reach hearts that have been hardened — for whatever reason — is by showing them Jesus.

June 29, 2026. Wise words from a great woman:

That’s my boy James…

July 7, 2026 James Talerico: “We as Christians are called to do more than charity. We are called to challenge the systems that make charity necessary.”
How can we claim to be committed Christians and be opposed to healthcare for all, caring for the homeless, clean energy, gun control, women’s rights, etc. etc.? Are all of these not things that Jesus would approve? Like the old saying goes, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating.”

July 10, 2026 Blessed to have our close friends the Renos come for a weekend visit before the next school year kicks in. Further blessed that my son Zack scored 8 tickets to the Astros — Rangers game for 5 Renos and 3 Malmgrens. Graced (unmeritedly favored) by having the Rangers win 7–3 (sorry, Renos). Further graced by God’s provision: family, food and fun for the weekend.
