Day 1, backtracking.…
#1619 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 22, 2025 I have been to many happy places–weddings, baptisms, parties, even an awesome memorial service. But for sheer decibels of happiness, nothing has matched a 2700 passenger cruise getting ready to sail out of San Juan harbor — dance music blaring, DJ/cheerleader firing up the crowd, champagne flowing. At first it seemed kind of decadent. Then I realized that God enjoys happy people–it’s not as good as joy, but it’s good.

Day 3 — I love St. Kitts!
#1620 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 24, 2025 This place is amazing: They have free healthcare for every resident — free education from kindergarten through university (three universities on the island) — virtually zero crime (hardly any police even wear guns) — zero homelessness — an island community where everyone watches out for one another. We Americans like to think of our nation as highly civilized and Christianized — how do we stack up? Tsk tsk

Day 4 — Wretched excess…
#1621 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 25, 2025 My dear mother used to tell me “Clean your plate–there are children starving in India.” I’m afraid a cruise ship provides the antithesis to my mom’s directive. Food is available all over the boat — whatever I could want — in as big a portion — at any time — as often — at no fee except what it cost me to get on board. And if what I’m eating doesn’t suit me, I just leave the rest on my plate. I am an easy target…as a teacher I was trained to relish freebies — donuts, meals, supplies — whenever they came around. “O wretched man that I am, who will save me from this body of sin?” (Romans 7:24)
I will probably gain 10 pounds on this trip!
