#1399 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 2, 2025 A great book is a gift from God. I have been double-gifted in the past couple weeks. The most powerful effect a book can have on me is to give me hope for humanity. In such a book I see the dignity, the nobility, and the love that we were made for. Created in the image of God…dear Lord, enable me to live up to that image.

Golf Tuesday, in memorium…
#1400 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 9, 2025 Our ROMEO (retired old men eating out) lunch today was a memorial to one of our founding members who recently passed away. It was a moving occasion. Several guys stood up and talked about the positive effect Bob Bass had on them. I had a similar experience with Bob–he reached out to people. That all three of our experiences took place on a golf course is further evidence that golf is a spiritual exercise. It makes me realize that the love we express to people makes a bigger difference than we can ever imagine. That is how God works.

#1401 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 14, 2025 According to the gospels of Matthew and Mark (Matt. 27:46 and Mark 15:34), Jesus’s last words were “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” Think of that. If I had followed this man for three years, convinced he was the Messiah, and heard those words, and seen him die the most ignominious death imaginable, there’s no way I would proclaim him as my Savior…unless He conquered death. Why would I lie? Thus the resurrection.

#1402 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 17, 2025 According to Luke’s gospel, Jesus’s last words were “Father, into Thy hands I commit my Spirit.” (Luke 23:46). I often forget that while in human form, Jesus’s channel of communication with the Father was the same as mine–through faith. It is so hard to keep believing in times of suffering. After all He had gone through…His is a life of faith lived through to the very end–an example for all of us to follow.

#1403 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 18, 2024 Jesus’s last words, according to the Gospel of John (my favorite) were “It is finished.” The deal is done–signed, sealed and delivered. This is the defining moment in the history of the human race. The Jews were expecting a Messiah to rise up as the next king of Israel. Instead, God delivered the King of Eternity. And He shall reign forever and ever. Hallelujah!

#1404 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 19, 2025 This from my favorite priest: “Do you have that Easter peace, that peace that knows that death is abolished? Life does not end with the grave. What lies ahead is far greater than we have experienced. Sin and death have no power because Jesus is risen from the dead and He is with us.” –Fr. Edward J. Farrell
The Easter message is clear: we can enjoy the presence of the Lord for all of eternity.

He is risen and so are we…
#1405 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 20, 2025 One of my favorite celebratory events of Easter is the traditional Easter meal. Today it was rib roast with all the fixings, followed by Elliotte’s chocolate pudding dessert. My cup (and my belt) runneth over. Thank You, Lord Jesus
