#929 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 8, 2024 One of the most magical experiences I have had in my life. The clouds had been rolling through all morning. The shade of the darkness, the stillness of the air, the awe of the audience… My brother Carl exclaimed, “We are totally lucky! We got to see the whole four minutes!” O, dear brother, luck had nothing to do with it. How great Thou art.
(Okay, the photo is a bit staged)

#930 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
January, 2024 Luck. I don’t believe in it, good or bad. We turn to luck because we can’t conceive of the immensity of God’s omnipotence. That doesn’t mean that every outcome has significance or that God is determining our fate; it just isn’t random. God has given us the power to turn our bad luck into good–it is called faith.

#931 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November, 2023 Priority is relative. What matters to one might not to the other. My friend Randy and I made a pact–whichever one passed away first would make a genuine effort to contact the one left behind. Randy died suddenly about ten years ago, and I never heard from him. My suspicion is that where he went was so cool that he never gave another thought to where he had been. I know that love is eternal. I will find out what else when I get to eternity. (Now that I think about it, I did have a dream about Randy a few years back.)

#932 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
February, 2024 Remember that scene in The Alamo when Colonel Travis draws a line in the sand and each man has to decide where he stands? This is my line-in-the-sand verse: “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on to the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13–14). My decision to cross that line has been the defining moment of my life–I guess it was for those guys in the Alamo too.

#933 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September, 2023 Happiness. God wants me to reach for joy, which does not depend on external events, but I don’t mind seeing happy along the way. I know in my soul God enjoys my happiness. He shares it with me. He wants me to know it is a stop along the Way and not a state of mind. And that it’s connected to joy. (comic by David Wilkie)

#934 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
January, 2024 This is what I ask of my ego: be content with who I am, be thankful for the life I’ve been given, and live by the two greatest commandments.

Family Sunday, the heights of temporal love…
#935 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 5, 2024 My daughter wrote this for my 75th birthday:
A love poem to Dallin E. Malmgren
He is old. He will extol / All the glories he beholds / Every night electronically / He says he loves you.
A daily reminder he is still going / Still golfing, still reading the comics / He sits on his porch and prays / He says hello out there, hello.
He makes us doubt Thomas / For his age has no rage / Our sage does not burn / But basks in the peace at hand.
He does not concern himself / With the sins of mankind / His is a journey within / A quest of heart and mind.
My teacher, a preacher, my father / The mosquito of my salvation
Thank you.
