#725 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September, 2022 (a year ago) “Let all who take refuge in the Lord rejoice; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, so that those who love Your name may exult in You. For You bless the righteous, O Lord, You cover them with favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:11–12). I asked my Stephen Ministry group if that meant that we, as Christians, got special favors from the Lord, as opposed to unbelievers. The response I got was that the real gift was the awareness of His presence whatever you experienced. I think that is very true. But I also think it’s a relationship–I am becoming more aware that He is always helping me out.

Good ol’ Golf Tuesday…
#726 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July, 2023 God wants relationships, not golf friendships. Relationships are built on knowing each other, not how far I hit my seven iron (a paltry 120 yards, sad to say). Relationships have to be built. We senior golfers are all on the same march, and we all know where it ends. God and family come way first, but real friends bring you laughter and happiness and usually not much stress. I consider myself blessed by the people God has chosen to put around me at this stage of my life. We are building relationships as we march along.

#727 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
February, 2023 This from my quiet time: “We need only to think for a moment what faith is. Is it not the confession of nothingness and helplessness, the surrender and the wanting to let God work? Is it not in itself the most humbling thing there can be–the acceptance of our place as dependents, who can claim or get or do nothing but what grace bestows? Humility is simply the disposition that prepares the soul for living on trust.” –Andrew Murray

#728 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July, 2023 “Blessed are the peacemakers…” To be able to repair a rift, large or small, is a wonderful spiritual gift–I wish I had it. I know of several relationships that need peacemaking.

#729 HOW I SPOKE TO GOD TODAY
May, 2023 (did you catch the difference?)…Evening prayer: Lord, there is nothing but eagerness and expectation as I think about what You have had to say to me today. Truly the greatest writing project ever. I thank You for the privilege. Open my ears to hear, open my heart to receive, open my soul to be healed. I love You, Jesus.

#730 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July, 2023 State of grace. The realization hovers around the edges of my consciousness: I am living in a state of grace. God is perfectly satisfied with me, not because of what I have done for Him, but because I believe what He has done for me. This state of grace is perpetual; I only have to open my heart to accept it.

Family Sunday coming from Spain…
#731 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September 25, 2023 Grace upon grace. Today my son Nate and I went off on our own to explore Malaga while the others rested. Just as on my road trip with Beth or playing golf with Zack, one on one time with a grown child is as precious as time gets for an old man like me. “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights…” (James 1:17)#
