December 2, 2025 “All discipline seems not to be joyful but sorrowful; yet for those who are trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” (Hebrews 12:11)
That is exactly my attitude for my physical therapy regimen as I heal from my rotator cuff surgery.

#1634 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 12, 2025 If you read this blog regularly, you’re aware my political leanings are in opposition to Trump’s large Christian base. That does not make me a Democrat. Although it is hard to tell by a lot of American Christians, there is only one kingdom followers of Jesus are called to support–His. If being a Christian does not take precedence over being an American, you are not a real Christian. A Christian who ignores Christian values–humility, compassion, kindness, generosity–is lost.

#1635 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 30, 2025 The last time the San Antonio Spurs won a championship was in 2014–in June, just as Karen and I were retiring. It was the greatest retirement gift imaginable for me. After 11 lean-ish years, the Spurs are finally good again–really good. And this team seems to have recaptured the team unity, the grit and the flair that made them so much fun to watch back then. Getting to watch them play like this again is a gift straight from God–at least for me.

“He was created of a mother whom He created.
He was carried by hands that He formed.
He cried in the manger in wordless infancy.
He, the Word, without whom all human eloquence is mute.”
–St. Augustine
Or: “When everything is subject to Christ, then the Son Himself will also be subject to the One who subjected everything to Him, so that God may be all in all.” (I Corinthians 15:28)

#1637 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 12, 2025 I typed in “worry in the Bible.” AI responded: The Bible advises against worry, stating that it is an unproductive burden that can lead to heartache. Instead it recommends casting anxieties on God, who cares for you…
Ah, there’s the rub. Most of my casts come back with the bait still on the hook. Teach me to cast, Lord Jesus

December 4, 2025 “All a person’s miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone.” –Blaise Pascal
I’m convinced that it’s impossible to find peace without being able to quiet your mind and focus on God.

#1639 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 6, 2025 God teaches us more about love in a marital relationship than with any other “neighbor”, right? Every individual has idiosyncrasies, foibles, peculiarities, mannerisms. It’s impossible to be so synced that we are always on the same wave length. There have to be annoyances. I see only two options: Try to change the person or exercise forgiveness and tolerance and forbearance. Good marriages are built upon the latter.
