Golf Tuesday, end of semester…

December, 2023 I am in a golf slump. This is a significant time in my Golf-Is-A-Spiritual-Exercise class–like an exam. I have to figure out how to break out of it. Every athletic endeavor requires practice, not just playing the game. I can do that. The spiritual side I am more hazy about. Too many thoughts, too many sighs of disappointment. I need to prioritize calmness over performance. Silence over chatter. Appreciation over competition. I need to make room for Jesus in my golf cart.

November, 2023 malaise — (n.) — a general feeling of discomfort, illness or uneasiness whose exact cause is difficult to identify. I had one of those days today. I know of no cure beyond prayer. My best advice comes from the Count of Monte Cristo: wait and hope. That same advice is repeated about a hundred different ways in the Psalms.

#828 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September, 2023 Sometimes this attitude creeps in: Well, if more people read my blog, that’s good for the Lord–I am helping the Lord out. On a shallow level (a propaganda level?), there’s truth to that. I am certainly pro-Christian. But it’s a sham attitude. The true goal and the real pleasure of this writing project is that I listen more closely for His voice. He can handle His own work.
