June 27, 2025 So many people I know love the outdoors–and I don’t mean the manicured golf course, I mean the one God made. I wish we had done more of that–hiking and camping–but Texas just didn’t seem that inviting. My tendency is to diminish God–to make Him smaller. Instead, I need to open my soul to allow Him to enlarge it. The outdoors helps.

August 4, 2025 So it looks like I am going to be sidelined (literally) from golf for most of August, at least. That creates a hole in my life. I have consulted God about it. Here is the scriptwriter’s dialogue:
Me: Why are You allowing this to happen?
God: Well, W/we both know it has to be for your benefit, right?
Me: Uh, right. (…we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God..–Romans 8:28). So what do You want me to do?
God: What do you want to do?
Me: All I really want to do is continue to follow You.
God: Good plan. Let’s take it one step at a time.
That’s how I heard it…

May 1, 2025 I am ignorant in heavenly matters. I have no idea what it’s going to be like. I am hoping I will encounter my mom and dad and my old friends Jeff and Randy, none of whom were Christians. I know that rules them out for many Christians, but I perceive it differently. I trust His love for my loved ones. No, I don’t know what it’s going to be like, but I know it will be celestial.

Holy Jesus, protect me from the dull habit. Help me remember that prayer is not a duty but a conversation. Remind me that You reveal Yourself, not just in the Bible, but in every event that takes place in my life. Open my heart to allow You to live through me. Thank You for being the God of goodness and beauty and joy.

July 6, 2025 One of the saddest things I’ve observed is people, either from the same family or the closest of friends, who because of a perceived wrong no longer speak with each other. Sometimes it is much easier to focus on what separates us rather than what unites us. It is so important to look past that–I wish I could snap my fingers and make that happen but it doesn’t work like that. Teach me to be a peacemaker, Lord

July 20, 2025 This bevy of beauties was headed out for an evening on the town, and all I could come up with was the four (actually three) witches from Macbeth:
1st witch: When shall we four meet again? In thunder, lightning, or in rain?
2nd witch: When the hurly-burly’s done. When the battle’s lost and won.
3rd witch: That will be ere the set of sun.
4th witch: Where’s the place?
They went out to a fine German restaurant and had a wonderful time. (Wonder what kind of time I’m going to have when they read this one?) Ah well, God loves family.
