August 19, 2026 Every once in awhile I come across a post that is exactly what God wants me to know:

Golf Tuesday, listening…
#1719 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September 12, 2026 Sometimes I wish God spoke to me this directly on the golf course. However, over time I have learned that He is more likely to say (in His way) something like this:
“Missing a 2 & 1/2 foot putt is a cause for humility not self-hate.”
“It’s roasting out here. Hydrate — and remind your friends.”
“Hoping someone messes up is not loving your neighbor.”
“Did you notice the two Mississippi kites playing up there.”
“Isn’t it good to be alive?”

We can’t all be mockingbirds…
#1720 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 11, 2026 The blue jays get a bad rap from me, probably because Atticus said it was okay to shoot them but not mockingbirds. They are so distinctive-looking, and they are not self-conscious. We have one (or two, who knows) that loves to bathe in our birdbath. He will get in there and make such a ruckus, flapping around, as if he’s trying to use up all the water — seems almost selfish. Nevertheless, they are growing on me.

Life is a merry-go-round…
#1721 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 12, 2026 Sometimes I circle God instead of joining Him. I don’t mean ignoring or rebelling. It’s more like keeping Him at arm’s length — it’s okay, I got this. I’m not saying that God doesn’t want me to handle the situations He puts me in. Rather, He wants me to do it with Him not for Him.

Happiness is a warm trigger.…
#1722 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September 14, 2026 trigger — (n.) — an action or situation that can lead to an adverse emotional reaction; also referred to as a stressor.
Having worked in a mental hospital for six years, I saw many examples of this type of trigger. But I’ve discovered a different kind of trigger, far more beneficial. I call them God triggers — (n.) — an external or internal stimulus that causes an awareness of the presence of God to come to mind.
I love God triggers!

Do you have God triggers?
#1723 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
September 15, 2026 God trigger — (n.) — an external or internal stimulus that causes an awareness of the presence of God to come to mind. Examples (it’s a smorgasbord for me); *a soft gentle breeze. — *a Bible verse that meets me where I am. — *seeing the joy in the eyes of a child. — *mockingbirds are an automatic trigger. — *any unexpected act of kindness. — *thunder and lightning. — *a well-struck golf shot. — *a song lyric that goes straight to my heart. — * seeing justice prevail (on any level). — * any blessing for my family.

Family Sunday, tending to myself…
#1724 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April 6, 2026. Sometimes to focus on God I have to sort through my own self-built obstructions. Emotions like anxiety and stress illuminate the need but clog the access. An unquiet mind is almost impenetrable, even by God. And even mild physical pain can act like a firewall. God has revealed some remedies: Prayer and meditation goes without saying. Soft music, especially instrumental, helps. Being relaxed and still. I like being outdoors, in front of God’s creation. Finally, breathe. If I do those things, it is to my benefit, by grace. “…in Me you have peace. In the world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
