Golf Tues­day, it’s all about the fellowship…
#1184 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 19, 2024 Mak­ing phone calls. Besides my broth­er and four sis­ters, there are three friends I try to keep in touch with on a reg­u­lar basis. Then there are sev­er­al golf bud­dies who can’t play because of var­i­ous health issues, and I like to check up on them. I also occa­sion­al­ly turn back the pages and reach out to some­one I haven’t seen for a long while but remem­ber fond­ly. These activ­i­ties are, I believe, Spir­it-led. “Let love for the brethren con­tin­ue.” (Hebrews 13:1). I have found that it’s eas­i­er to let rela­tion­ships recede than to active­ly engage. Love is active.

#1187 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
May 26, 2024 I’m back on that “…is God audible?–He’s loud­er than that…” post from awhile back. It has led me to exam­ine how I believe God speaks to me–me personally–every sin­gle day. So how? Through my thoughts–and I don’t just mean read­ing my Bible (I love my Bible)–but through all my thoughts and how they run. He can inspire them, guide them, alert them, shake His head at them, and dis­miss them. But c’mon, thoughts stream in and out–how can I deter­mine He is speak­ing? The Apos­tle Paul pro­vid­ed the guide­lines: “Final­ly, broth­ers, what­ev­er is true, what­ev­er is noble, what­ev­er is right, what­ev­er is pure, what­ev­er is love­ly, what­ev­er is admirable, if any­thing is excel­lent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” (Philip­pi­ans 4:4–6). Direct my thoughts, Lord Jesus.

June 26, 2024 Some­times (dark times) I won­der if progress is even real. Am I not, essen­tial­ly, the same per­son I was 30 years ago? Boy, I hope not. We are sup­posed to grow in love–in faith–in hope. If I am the same as I was 30 years ago, I am stag­nant. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that I am not.

August 17, 2024 We have one grand­daugh­ter spend­ing the night, as the oth­er two got bet­ter offers. After my ini­tial dis­ap­point­ment, I see that this is a bet­ter way. One on one, we get all of her atten­tion. I’m on the back porch cook­ing chick­en drum­sticks; every time I go in I hear the two of them chat­ter­ing away in a back room. It’s a won­der­ful sound. Ah Lord, You are so wise in Your ways!
