Meditation Monday…
#603 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
June, 2023 This is my thesis: Prayer is my way of spilling my guts to God. Meditation is my way of preparing myself to listen for Him. Here’s a great one: (inhale) Grace and mercy and peace (exhale) from our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe meditation is more about receiving than giving, and that is hard for many people.

It’s Golf Tuesday and I am in pain…
#604 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
March, 2023 I have just learned that six of the 13 guys who went on our golf getaway have gotten sick. We think it was the Noro virus–I hope it wasn’t food poisoning since I was the cook! Sickness hits old people a lot harder than young. I believe God uses (not causes) sickness (and pain) to reveal our fragility so we will depend on Him.

#606 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
May, 2023 I had my annual physical today. My doctor (who I love) said “How are you feeling today?” I said “If I was feeling any better I’d feel guilty about it.” He said “Boy, you don’t hear that very much in these exam rooms.” I know that I am blessed with good health, and that good health is the most valued blessing among people my age. I know several people who are not experiencing good health. It seems both condescending and rude to offer any advice to them, but I will say this: the strongest defense we can must is faith. “The testing of our faith produces endurance.” (James 1:2) Ill health tests our faith more than anything except cataclysmic tragedies. I will probably be tested sometime by the debilitations of ill health. Let me believe, Lord Jesus.

#607 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
May, 2023 One thing I love is that God reminds me that the world is good. It can be two mockingbirds at the feeder, or witnessing a kindness from one senior guy to another, or reliving how pleasant a walk in the rain can be. It’s almost like He’s winking at me. I love that.

July 2, 2023 Today God led us to the Rangers/ Astros game in Dallas with our wonderful friends, the Renos. You can tell from the photo who won.
