Senior Golf Tuesday…#1717 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
February 19, 2025 I’ve played about four rounds of golf (since my return from rotator cuff surgery), and I find I can’t play anymore. Swing feels funny and frequently painful, chipping seems impossible, can’t read or hit putts. Then I realize I’m out in a green world with clean air, inhabited by ducks and geese and all manor of wildlife, joined by comrades in arms who are, in varying degrees, fighting the same battles I am. Old men and golf is a war of attrition. It’s good to be back, Lord

February 26, 2026 In the last six months I’ve had: rotator cuff surgery — which led to the discovery of atrial fibrillation — which fomented the Watchman procedure — while also adding a radio frequency ablation for lower back arthritis — which, after an MRI, is to be augmented by a caudal injection. My life has been placed in the hands of doctors, but I’m just trusting the Lord.

February 20, 2026. This is called a pistol squat. All three Dallas granddaughters can do it — you have to stand on one leg, go all the way down and back up again. My body can no longer even contemplate such a movement (doubt if it ever could). O Lord, we are wondrously made!
