- I was born on April 5, 1949 in upstate New York. I was born again in Columbia, Missouri in May of 1975.
- I’m a middle child, brother and sister above, three sisters below. I prefer the middle—you’re on your own there.
- I began college at the University of Missouri in 1967 and graduated from there in August of 1981. To this day I am a slow learner.
- I have hitchhiked over 50,000 miles, and that is not hyperbole. My old friend Randy Plank and I had a running contest. I’d wake up on a Saturday morning in Columbia and hitchhike to Colorado, getting back on Sunday evening. I made it once from Columbia to Palo Alto, California on less than five dollars. I learned more on the road than I ever did in college.
- The most interesting job I ever had was as a psychiatric aide at the Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center.
- I met my true love, Karen, in Columbia in 1975. We met in church. True love has not been at all like I expected. I’m glad.
- Parenting is God’s way of teaching us unconditional love.
- I was called to be a teacher. I am calling out to be a writer.
- The empty nest is not such a bad thing.
- I believe my best golf is still ahead of me. Truly.
Hey Dallin,
Good to see you are doing what you love and that you are having a good life. Did you ever consider writing about the 209–211Waugh Street gang of the late 1960’s? That would be quite a book, to look up everyone and find out what they are doing now, etc…
Our birthdays are a day apart, I was born on the 4th, same month and year.
All the best,
Sanford
Love it Dallin! Easy to navigate the site and of course, from your bio to your book synopsis, you have something clever an interesting to say. I’ll be waiting for my response as promised. ;)
Really happy for you!
