#561 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
March, 2023. This is how God works: I was browsing Facebook and saw a post from a couple Karen and I had known from the earliest days of our marriage but hadn’t seen in about 45 years. They were vacationing in Big Bend National Park. I messaged them to stop by on their way back to Missouri. We grilled and sat on the back porch and caught up and reminisced and laughed into the night. The evidence that God has had His hand on all of our lives was palpable. We made breakfast and sent them on their way, praying for travel mercies.

It’s Golf Tuesday!
#562 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April, 2023. Golf course/back porch drama:
Golfer hits ball into my yard. I walk over and pick it up as he and his friend approach.
He: Aw, man, I’m sorry.
Me: (holding up the ball) Can I ask you a moral/ethical question?
He: (slightly taken aback): What?
Me: Is this ball yours or mine?
He: (pause) Yours. I hit it into your yard.
Me: (tossing him the ball) You’re a good man.
He: (catching it) You’re a better one.
However you cut it, that is great dialogue.

April, 2023. One thing that makes me happy (perhaps joyous?) is that when I beseech God about my writing project, when I am full of doubts and inhibitions, when I question the balance of me and Him, I always get the same answer–keep writing, Dallin.

#564 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December, 2022. One thing I am learning: God will give me opportunities to do good. I just have to be open to it. It could be a chance to serve, it could be a donation, it could be a random act of kindness, it is often just an empathetic ear; it can be as simple as a smile or as complex as a self-sacrifice. One thing I already know: Every time I do good I am serving the Kingdom, which benefits every living thing.

#565 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
March 2023. I fear the Word of the Lord (the Bible). History has demonstrated that human beings are as capable of doing evil based on their “understanding” of the Bible as they are of doing good. I trust God to help me understand the Bible more than I do the Bible to help me understand God.

#566 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
April, 2023. Listening for God to speak and being open-minded about how and what He wants to say is the best spiritual discovery I’ve made since I met Jesus. By far this is the most fulfilling writing project I’ve ever undertaken. How can I know if it is Him and not some sly dark force from without or within? His Word lays it out for me: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Family Sunday strikes again!
#567 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
March, 2023. (Day 4 of Texas Malmgren family reunion in Canada). Dylan (son-in-law) took me snowshoeing. At the bottom of the trail we were in a valley next to a small pond, everything covered by a blanket of snow. It was the most perfect stillness I have ever experienced…the only sound being my ragged breathing (snowshoeing is hard!).
