December 12, 2023 Evangelism — (n.) — the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness. I do not believe the telling of the gospel can be effective in this day and age unless it is combined with the demonstration of the gospel, i.e., Christ-like-ness.

July 2, 2024 Once more with feeling–golf is a spiritual exercise! Today’s example: playing badly. Every golfer I know has good and bad days. That is the nature of the game. The spiritual challenge is to respond to the bad days with forbearance (n. — patient self-control; restraint and tolerance). No pity, no pouting, no excuses. It’s easy to be joyful when I am in the groove. Teach me to play badly well, Lord Jesus.

Family Sunday, here and now…

August 4, 2024 As a grandparent, I stand on the periphery at a family reunion. It is a good place to be. There is so much activity, so much interaction, so many needs to be met, so much noise–I can dip in and out as I please. As I observe the parental duties, I’m thrilled at how well they fulfill their roles, proud that I once must have done the same, and relieved that I no longer have to–I don’t have that kind of energy! Thanks be to God for His wisdom in the construction of family.
