#1301 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
November 26, 2024 It wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t reached out. This is one of the foundational truths of the committing of charitable acts. Many people will not ask for help even if they need it. I am supposed to pay attention, be aware, perceive needs. And I am supposed to reach out.

#1302 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 23, 2024 I came oh so close to my first hole in one today. This conversation ensued as we drove away:
Cornel: Ah well, a hole in one is nothing but luck anyway.
Me: I don’t believe that.
Cornel: Oh. What do you think?
Me: I feel like God has promised me a hole in one. It’s only a matter of time.
Cornel: Ah, so it’s predestined. Well, you better keep praying.
Me: Yeah, I guess so. But it’s not like I’m going to get to heaven and see Him face to face and say, “Hey, what about my hole in one?” (Jesus, not Santa!)

#1303 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
July 6, 2024 relax — (v.) — to become calm and comfortable, and not worried or nervous… Is that something I even have control of? I say yes. How often do I exercise that control? Not often enough. Tension diminishes my awareness of the Spirit. Being present, breathing, collecting my thoughts, sitting still, closing my eyes or opening them, listening–all conducive to opening my spiritual pores. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

#1304 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
October 20, 2024 A writer wants to be read. Once written, I have little control over who my ideas land on or how they land. I would not write anymore if I didn’t believe God wanted me to. I used to tell my Creative Writing students that in order to write, you had to believe you had something to say that was worth hearing. A personal relationship with our Creator is certainly a topic worth exploring. Give me words, Lord Jesus.

November 15, 2024 “Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things are changing. God alone is changeless. Patience attains the good. One who has God lacks nothing. God alone fills all our needs.” –St. Teresa of Avila
Throughout the ages there have been people who understand.

A personal testimony…
#1306 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 6, 2024 I’ve been writing HGSTMT over three years, almost 1300 posts. In all that time I’ve gotten my spiritual insight through television twice, maybe three times. I’ll bet around 40% of my posts contain a quote from the Bible or some wise writer. All of them came through reading. Moral of the story: If you are looking for inspiration, open a book.

#1307 HOW GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY
December 22, 2024 A nice way to kick off Christmas week–we took the girls to see the Nutcracker. Never been to the ballet before, didn’t know anything about it narrative-wise, didn’t read the program–I had no idea what was going on up there! But I did like the music, and the girls seemed to enjoy it. Thanks for a new experience, Lord.
